The Four Shared Spaces at Aleevia Carter Residences

Aleevia Carter is a boutique building: seven storeys, 85 loft homes, and four shared amenities. Four is a short list for a condominium, and that was deliberate. A long amenity list photographs well and then sits unused. These four get used on an ordinary Tuesday.

Here is what each one is, and what it is good for.

The gym

A wood-slatted ceiling, a mirrored wall down one side, windows down the other. The equipment is professional grade and covers the basics properly: treadmills, air bikes, an adjustable bench with a barbell, and a cable machine for everything else.

The room is sized for a building of 85 homes, so you are not queueing for a machine at seven in the morning. The daylight matters more than you would think. Plenty of building gyms are windowless rooms in a basement, and people stop going to those.

The rooftop sports court

Up on the roof, a full-height fence encloses a court with basketball lines painted on it. There are floodlights, so it still works after dark, and a bleacher along one side for whoever is sitting the game out.

Basketball is the obvious use. The court is listed as multi-purpose, and the open surface takes whatever else residents bring up to it.

The roofdeck lounge

The roofdeck shares the roof with the court, on a raised timber platform past the fence line. There is a long table with chairs for a group, softer seating off to one side for two or three people, and planting along the parapet.

The umbrellas are not decoration. A roof in Pasay gets all the sun there is, and they are what make the space usable before six in the evening. After dark the recessed deck lights come on and it becomes somewhere to sit outside without leaving the building.

The laundry room

Six machines stacked in pairs, a deep sink next to them, and a run of counter for folding. Open shelving above for detergent, a drying rack at the end.

This is the amenity nobody puts on a brochure cover and everybody uses. In a 40 square metre loft, a washer and dryer cost you a cupboard you cannot spare. Keeping them in a shared room downstairs is the better trade.

Seeing them

The amenities are easier to judge standing in them than in pictures. A model unit can be toured on site, or live over Google Meet if you are out of the country. Book either through the contacts page.
